Swimming and water polo on the river, made-made beaches on old barges, and classic cars. These are just some of the images of every day life in Copenhagen.
Henning Larsen’s Copenhagen Opera House is one of the most impressive on Copenhagen’s waterfront. It’s massive cantilever almost seems to extend the building out onto the water.
The Opera House is visible from the Amalienborg Palace, framed perfectly by two of the palace’s wings. Similarly, from the Opera House’s island one can see right through the Palace to Frederik’s Church.
The (relatively new) Øresund Bridge (Øresundsbron) connects Sweden with Denmark, via Copenhagen and Malmö. Commonly known as the Øresund Region, these two cities are now much closer together, making it a short 45 minute train ride between the two. Citizens can work in one and live in the other. And it seems they often do. Malmö makes a great day trip from Copenhagen, there’s certainly more than enough to see.
